Travelling
- Let’s talk about travelling. Do you like travelling? Why?
Travelling nowadays has become an important part of modern life. Millions of people all over the world travel about their own countries and to foreign lands as well. They are eager to see and explore new places and learn more about different ways of life.
So travelling and tourism depend on such industries as transportation, accommodation and catering, attractions and activities, tour operators, tourist agents and tourist information.
People travel to visit natural destinations such as seas, lakes, rivers, mountain ranges, deserts, and so on. They also visit built destinations and resorts.
To my mind it’s always interesting to discover new things and other ways of life, to meet different people, taste different food, examine various architectural styles, visit museums and picture galleries. It’s common knowledge that travelling is a key to understanding other cultures and a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the world we live in.
- What means of transport do you prefer and why?
Nowadays people can travel in different ways. They can enjoy the comfort and speed of airlines as well as the conveniences of modern coaches and trains, or the luxury of a sea voyage. People choose this or that way of travelling according to their likes and financial possibilities.
I personally prefer travelling by car. There are several reasons for it. First of all you don’t need to reserve your tickets. Then you can go as slowly or as fast as you wish, stop whenever you choose as long as you like. And, of course, you see much more of the countryside that you do travelling by plane or even by train.
- What questions would you ask a tour guide on a tour of London?
- What places are worth seeing in London?
- Why do London parks attract thousands of visitors every day?
- What Royal traditions attract tourists in London?
- You’ve visited some foreign countries. Which of them did you like most and would recommend your friend to visit?
I have visited some foreign countries and I liked them all. (I have never been to a foreign country, but I hope to visit some of them when I become a grown-up person.). Though I haven’t been to England I would recommend my friend to go there first and foremost. I would advise my friend to visit Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace and Tower of London, Stonehenge and many other places.
- Today people are tired of exotic countries and prefer to spend holidays in the countryside in Belarus. What can attract people to it?
Nowadays people are increasingly choosing holidays which bring them to nature. They grow tired of sightseeing, visiting museums and castles. Some holidaymakers simply don’t like doing it anymore. They would rather escape to the countryside, go walking, rambling and backpacking, or would rather engage themselves into sport like rafting, canoeing or biking.
People are tired of noise and polluted air. But in Belarusian countryside they can breathe in fresh air, listen to birds’ singing and the leaves’ rustle (шелест). They can eat natural products and drink clean water. It’s a real paradise for people’s souls.
