Family traditions

  1. Let’s speak about family. What family traditions do you follow?

It goes without saying that the family is very important as a unit in our society. Nothing else but family can be an emotional centre of people’s lives and a transmitter of culture. Understanding between all members of the family is very important in family relationships. I think family traditions help its members respect and support one another.

If to speak about my family, we can’t spend much time together during a week. But every evening we have tea together and speak about our working day, share impressions and good news, discuss our challenges and make plans for the coming day. It’s one of our family traditions. To my mind, it helps us to learn more about one another and makes our family united.

We have our family traditions. Our family see the New Year at home. We cook a lot of delicious food for the night meal which usually starts at 10 p.m.  We sing songs, play games and give presents to one another.

We have a family tradition to celebrate birthdays of each member of the family. On these days we usually have parties. Friends and relatives come with presents and flowers and we have fun together.

As you can see, consideration for others is very important in our family relationships. We have our family traditions which make our life more exciting and interesting, help to understand one another better, to express our emotions and feelings.

  1. Are you on good terms with your parents and grandparents?

I’ve got an extended family, but we don’t live together. We often visit our grandparents and help them in the garden or about the house. We also like going to parks or visiting famous sights in our country together. We can discuss any topic with my parents and grandparents. I can absolutely rely on them and respect them very much.

  1. What will you ask a British teenager about his/ her family traditions?
  1. Do you have any family traditions?
  2. Do you spend a lot of time together?
  3. Do you have any problems with your parents?
  1. What can you advise people who want to have a good relationship with their parents and grandparents?

I can advise to spend more time together, to talk about their problems and troubles. Members of strong families show each other affection (привязанность) and appreciation (понимание). People should discuss all the family plans, go on trips together, visit museums, exhibitions, exchange opinions about them, share joys and sorrows.

  1. They say that parents and children have difficulties understanding each other because of the generation gap. What do you think about this problem?

I think both parents and children are responsible for good and friendly relations in the family. Every member of the family must support and respect one another and of course, spend more time together.

This is the way things should be in a family.
