To be healthy is very important. You can work, learn and have fun only when you are healthy. Health is the man’s greatest wealth. Of course, you can inherit some problems from your parents. But you can always keep your health if you want to.

We are healthy when all parts of our bodies and of our minds work together properly. We cannot be happy unless we feel well.

The first rule of healthy way of life is to have normal weight, not to be overweight. One of the ways to keep normal weight is to regulate your diet. A person needs vitamins and fibre. One must eat fruit and vegetables every day. Too much food makes you fat. Fat and sugar give a lot of energy. If the energy is not used it becomes fat in your body. If you eat sweet, fat food, even from time to time, you have to exercise regularly. Physical exercises help people to keep fit, have a good gait and figure. They also help you to lose weight and work out energy.

Bad habits, such as smoking, drinking alcohol and using drugs, can ruin your health. Regular sports help people to avoid these bad habits.

Smoking is one of the 20th century maladies. Some young people think that smoking can make them look grown up and cool. Smoking is now banned in many places so that other people don’t have to breathe in smoke choking tobacco smoke.

Passive smoking, when you are breathing someone else’s smoke, can damage your health just like smoking can. Smoking becomes addictive very quickly, and it’s one of the hardest habits to break.

Smoking leads to chronic bronchitis, emphysema, it increase your blood pressure and pulse rate. This can contribute (способствовать) to heart disease.

It goes without saying that doing sports is very important for every person. A certain amount of exercise is necessary to keep your body in good shape.

If you like team games you can play football, volleyball, ice hockey, field hockey or basketball. Games to play with a friend include badminton, squash and tennis. There are individual sports such as swimming, riding, horse riding or athletics.

There are summer sports such as track-and-field athletics and water sports and winter sports such as snowboarding or skating. There are sports which don’t depend on the weather, since they are played indoors. Extreme sports like parachuting, windsurfing, cave diving are popular today.

You should only listen to your feelings attentively and choose which sport gives you more pleasure and inspiration.

The healthier food that we consume, the better our bodies look and the healthier we are. Fast food has become popular because it is very tasty, delicious and pleasant. But you should remember that it is high in calories and lacking in nutrition. People who eat large amount of fast food face danger of heart, leaver disease and cancer. Apart from the risk of cancer, another side effect of junk food is that you are lucky to gain weight. It is also leads to cancer and disorders of the heart and blood system. So we should limit the amount of fizzy drinks and hamburgers. A little now and then will do no harm.
