  1. Now let’s talk about food. What can you tell me about eating habits in your family?

I prefer to have meals at home. Breakfast is the first meal of the day.As a rule it is quick and light. We all are always short of time in the morning.We have breakfast at 7 o’ clock. The usual breakfast in our family is porridge with aglass of milk, a cup of strong tea or coffee with   some sandwiches or boiled or scrambled eggs and sausages.I don’t eat much in the morning but my parents like to have a substantial meal.At the weekends we have a good breakfast of bangers and mash, sometimes a pudding or fish and pancakes. Pancakes are my mother’s and my favourite food.My father prefers pork chop,roast chicken.

As I spend a lot of time at school it is necessary to have a snack at midday. That’s I have to go to the schoolcanteen for lunch. Lunchtime is at 12 o’clock. For lunch we have soup, spaghetti with sausages, fish or cereals with meat and of course salad. I like mixed salads very much. Drinks at lunch time are different: fruit juices, tea, compote, cocoa.My parents take food with them to work.

At about 7 o’clock we have dinner.The main course is often cooked meat, chicken or fish with potatoes,vegetables, sometimes soup. I prefer meat to fish but my mother makes me eat fish from time to time.  She says it’s good for my brains. For dessert we have fruit, juice or tea with slice of cake or biscuits. Dinner is the only time of day when we sit down and have a good talk.

On Sundays is a tradition to have a family lunch. As mother likes to bake there is always something tasty at home.We love our food. In our fridge there is always some fruit and vegetables. The proverb says : “An apple a day keeps the doctor away “.This means that we should eat more fresh vegetables and fruit, because  this food is rich in vitamins A,B,C,E and eating more fruit and vegetables can reduce your risk of cancer.

 

  1. Do you like cooking? Why (not)?

I love to cook, so my kitchen is filled with every cooking gadget: measuring cups, spoons, baking whisks.I myself can prepare and cook many dishes. My mum helps me with some useful advice.  Best of all I like to prepare pancakes. It is not difficult tomake this dish.You can eat pancakes with sour cream, jam, caviar.

Modern Belarusian cuisine is marked for its variety of potato, mushroom and pork dishes.The select Belarusian food is draniki, pork stewed with potatoes in earthenware pots, dumplings and thick pancakes (oladyi) stuffed with meat, potato babka, mushroom soup and cold soup (kholodnik). I recommend you to taste draniki and koldyny.Koldyny are stuffed draniki.You can stuff them with meat or mushrooms.Machanka is used as a Belarusian traditional sauce for draniki or blini. It may be different in different regions.Most often it is made with pork, sausage, sliced onion, sour cream and flour.To make draniki you need about a kilo of potato, one onion, 2 eggs,flour, salt. Peel and grate the potato and the onion into a large bowl.Add the other ingredients and mix well.Add a little bit more flour and mix well again.Then heat the oil in a frying pan, take a tablespoon of the mixture and put it into the oil, pressing a little bit.The draniki need to fry for 3-4 minutes on each side till the potato is cooked through.

 

  1. Scientists say that fast food is unhealthy but teenagers can’t stop eating it. What do you think about this?

The healthier food that we consume is, the better our bodies look and the healthier we are. Fast food has become very popular because it is very tasty, delicious and pleasant. But you should remember that it is high in calories and lacking in nutrition. Hamburgers, crisps, chocolate bars, pizzas and hot dogs fall into this category.People who eat large amount of fat fast food face danger of heart,leaver disease and cancer.  Apart from the risk of cancer, another side effect of junk food is that you are likely to gain weight. Nowadays there are lots of children who suffer from overweight. It is also leads to cancer and disorders of the heart and blood system.So we should limit the amount of fizzy drinks, hamburgers. A little now and then will do no harm.
